I have been a full-time professional sculptor working exclusively in hardwoods for over 49 years. I am self-taught. Carving flowers in wood has been the artistic passion of my life. The process consists of hand-guided band-sawing, hand-carving, and sanding of solid pieces of wood. There is no bending of the wood in any way. All pieces are one-of-a-kind and they are highly finished and beg to be touched. My work is unique in the art world.
As a Fine Artist and Master Woodworker with five decades of study and dedication to my craft, I have honed a deep reverence and understanding of the inherent qualities and potential of wood as my medium.
My work is in private collections and has been exhibited at the Chicago Botanic Gardens Show, the Smithsonian Show, the Maine Coast Botanical Garden, the Boston Flower Show and Tiffany & Company in NYC.
I am a lifelong Mainer. My home and studios are situated in a meadow in rural Maine. I live in a tiny house. I am a naturalist, an environmentalist, and a minimalist.
My work needs to be seen in person in the round to be truly appreciated.
